GORHAM, Maine, Feb. 18, 2015 – Mega Industries was awarded a contract valued at $97,000 by Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] for the design and development of a new wave guide system for the C-5M Super Galaxy color weather radar.
The contract also includes the provision of material for two aircraft. The improvements will enable the Super Galaxy to operate with fewer flight restrictions in civil airspace, reducing mission costs. The Lockheed Martin C-5M Super Galaxy has set 43 world aviation records and has redefined strategic airlift for the United States Air Force.
“This is a build-to-design contract that fits our capabilities perfectly,” said Lisa Cummings, Mega Industries sales account manager. “Our talented engineers will interact with Lockheed Martin regularly providing technical support for the integration of the Waveguide components into the aircraft.”
The contract, a result of a merit review, evaluation, and competitive bidding process, calls for Mega engineers to provide support during the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase of the Weather Radar upgrade program.
“This award is an important milestone in our strategy to expand our business in the Defense sector,” said Peter Matthews, CEO Mega Industries.
Delivery is scheduled the second quarter of 2015 and will include one qualification unit, two additional units to be installed on aircraft and one spare unit.
