Mega Industries LLC (Mega), an Anania & Associates Investment Company LLC (AAI) portfolio company and a world leader in high power RF equipment, was honored to host a new program called “Dream It. Do It.” on National Manufacturing Day. The program is being run in 25 states currently and the Manufacturers Association of Maine embraced this new program as a way to bring students, parents, and educators together to show them the value in pursuing careers in manufacturing. Industry is alive and well here in Maine, with Mega Industries proving this point. Mega Industries has enjoyed growing sales, and increasing employment opportunities in manufacturing over the past decade.
Recently Mega Industries grew their manufacturing facility from 30,000 square feet to 37,400 square feet making it the perfect site for the launch of the “Dream It. Do It.” program. Mega was able to showcase not only job creation, but the completion of their new clean room facility for finishing of products used in Scientific research and Medical devices where close attention to cleanliness are of utmost importance.
In attendance, along with Mega Industries’ employees, were local students, parents, and teachers. John Butera, Economic Adviser to Gov. Paul LePage was also in attendance. He spoke of the critical part manufacturing career opportunities play to Maine’s economy and the importance of these high-tech and high-skilled jobs. Frank Sherburne, Superintendent of Bonney Eagle School District stated that the misperception that manufacturing doesn’t offer career opportunities needs to change so our upcoming generations do not feel as though they need to leave the state. He is the “Dream It. Do It.” acting ambassador to the state’s other school Superintendents.
Lisa Martin, Executive Director of the Manufacturers Association of Maine noted that manufacturing wages are 28% higher than the average Maine wage with a recent informal poll showing 218 open positions at 37 manufacturing companies in Maine. There are 1,800 manufacturing businesses in the state, which employ more than 50,000 people and support a payroll that tops $2.5 billion, according to the association’s most recent data.
Anania & Associates President, Peter Anania commented, “Mega Industries experienced 87% growth in sales this year. Our business continues to prosper as we constantly strive to provide a product and service that exceeds our customer’s expectations. Maine employees pride themselves on their work ethic and I believe our success stands firmly upon that platform. I hope Maine will continue to drive home the importance of educating generations to come of the vast opportunities that exist in manufacturing. We were honored to host the newly launched “Dream It. Do It.” program and have enjoyed welcoming and educating all who attended Mega’s celebration.”
